We are overjoyed to announce our donation to Millville Elementary School in support of inclusive play opportunities for children of all abilities.
With heartfelt gratitude we thank our generous donors:
Mansfield Bank, Dynamic Dental of Mansfield and many individual and anonymous donors who recognize the importance of inclusion and what it means for all our future.
Connecting with peers during recess is no longer a struggle for children at Millville Elementary school. On June 20th, 2019 Space2Thrive will officially hand over play equipment supporting diverse abilities and encouraging connections.
Equipment has been carefully selected including therapists and educators in the selection process.
Instead of expensive play equipment which only offers limited opportunities for interaction and connections, we opted for a variety of mobile and loose play equipment which can be used outdoors and indoors. Children can play, connect with and learn from each other year round regardless of weather conditions.
The variety of donated games and play equipment aids in the following:
Connections, peer interactions and team building
Fine motor development
Gross motor development
Language and vocabulary building
Space2Thrive creates spaces for all children to thrive and engage in play. We support every child’s social and emotional development and help fill in the gaps by creating spaces and events for ALL children and their families to interact and learn about and from each other, exchange views and empathize with the others world view.
“Friendship among very young children and children with disabilities is not only possible, but beneficial. With support and encouragement from adults, young children with and without disabilities can form connections that not only provide enjoyment, but help promote their growth and development in multiple domains.” - Barbara Goldman and Virginia Buysse
